Why Bonus Terms Exist
A bonus is marketing. Operators offer extra credit to attract and reward players, but they attach conditions so the offer cannot simply be deposited, matched and withdrawn instantly for a risk-free profit. Understanding those conditions is the difference between a bonus that adds fun value and one that quietly locks up your money. Below we explain the terms you will meet in almost every offer.
Wagering Requirements
The wagering requirement (also called "rollover" or "playthrough") is the total amount you must bet before bonus-related winnings can be withdrawn. It is shown as a multiplier such as 20x or 35x, applied to the bonus, the deposit, or both — so always check what the multiplier applies to.
Worked Example
Scenario: You deposit RM100 and receive a 100% match bonus of RM100. The offer has a 20x wagering requirement on the bonus amount.
- Wagering required = RM100 bonus × 20 = RM2,000 in bets.
- You must place RM2,000 of qualifying wagers before withdrawing bonus winnings.
- If the requirement applied to deposit + bonus (RM200 × 20), it would be RM4,000 — double the play.
Same headline "100% bonus", very different effort. Always confirm the base the multiplier uses.
Game Weighting (Contribution)
Not every game counts equally toward wagering. Slots usually contribute 100%, while lower-margin games like blackjack or roulette contribute far less, or nothing. This "weighting" stops players clearing a bonus cheaply on low-risk games. Here is a typical illustrative table:
| Game type | Typical contribution to wagering |
|---|---|
| Slots | 100% |
| Fishing / arcade games | 50%–100% |
| Video poker | 10%–20% |
| Roulette | 10%–25% |
| Baccarat / blackjack | 0%–10% |
| Live casino tables | Often 0%–10% |
What this means in practice: if you bet RM100 on a slot at 100%, RM100 counts toward wagering. Bet RM100 on blackjack at 10%, and only RM10 counts. Clearing a bonus on table games can take ten times longer.
Maximum Bet Limit
Most bonuses cap the amount you can stake per bet or spin while wagering is active — commonly around RM5 to RM10. This prevents players from placing one huge bet to clear the requirement in a single spin. Exceeding the max bet, even accidentally, can void the bonus and any winnings from it, so check this figure carefully and set your stake below it.
Maximum Cashout
Some bonuses — especially free bonuses and free spins — cap how much you can withdraw from bonus winnings, regardless of how much you win. For example, a "max cashout of RM500" means that even a RM3,000 win is trimmed to RM500 on withdrawal. Deposit-match bonuses are less likely to cap winnings, but always look for this clause.
Expiry and Time Limits
Bonuses do not last forever. A typical offer must be wagered within a set window — often 7 to 30 days. If you have not met the wagering requirement in time, the bonus and any winnings derived from it are usually forfeited. Free spins may also expire within a day or two of being credited. Plan your play so you are not rushing risky bets near the deadline.
Eligibility Rules
Common eligibility conditions include:
- One per person/household/IP: welcome offers are for genuinely new accounts.
- Minimum deposit: you may need to deposit a set amount to qualify.
- Excluded payment methods: some e-wallets may not qualify for certain bonuses.
- Age and location: 18+ and available in your jurisdiction.
- Opt-in required: some bonuses must be actively claimed before depositing.
Is a Bonus Always Worth It?
Not necessarily. A large headline bonus with heavy wagering, low game weighting and a tight expiry can be worth less than a smaller, cleaner offer. Sometimes playing without a bonus — keeping full control of your funds — is the better choice. Treat any bonus as added entertainment value, never as guaranteed profit.
